Availability
It's really important to
be honest about your availability, and to
commit to the full term of your contract.
It's extremely difficult for the resort
to fill your position if you quit early.
SKI Resorts
- Jobs usually commence every Saturday in
December, and finish March 31st. You may
be able to stay and work longer (ie. if
there's a lot of snow, and the Resort stays
open longer than usual). There are also
a limited number of short-term jobs in Nagano (and Ski Instructor positions in Hokkaido)
which finish up by Late February. However,
the longer your availability, the
higher your chance of getting a job.
NOTE: All
beginner-level speakers of Japanese must
be available from at least Dec 20th - Mar
31st, and be willing to participate in our
boobooSKI-tailored language course
(see top-right of this page).
BEACH
/ GOLF / MOUNTAIN Resorts - Summer
jobs usually start on the 1st of each month
from May - July (July - Sep is the busiest
period at the resorts, so we recommend you
be available for at least this period).
You must be available to work for at least
3 consecutive months. Applicants
with longer availability have a better chance
of getting a job.

RESORT QUOTAS - Part-time staff vs. Interns: Due to the recent poor economic climate, Japanese resorts have come under increasing pressure to minimise expenditures. One immediate cost cutting measure is to reduce the intake of part-time staff. The summer resorts in particular have drastically reduced their intake of part-time staff. As a consequence, no foreign staff were hired for the 2009 summer season. We will continue to try our best to secure positions for the coming seasons.
On the other hand, quotas for internships (education-oriented programs) have been less affected. Internships place higher emphasis on education and work experience within an industry. It is important to note that remuneration for an internship is often less competitive than normal part-time work. For full details about our affiliated internship programs, including salary and benefits, please visit http://www.japaninternship.net
In order to give you the greatest chance of securing a position this year (especially for lower-level Japanese speakers), by applying on this website, you can also be considered for Internship positions. There is no need to apply on both websites. When you apply on this website, you can select whether you are also interested in being considered for an internship program.

If you only speak a little Japanese, the boobooSKI-tailored

a position in this year's Ski

a) Have the right personality for the job,
b) Make effort to learn in the course.
