Okinawa Positions Update
April Starts:
We are still hoping for last-minute approvals for April 28th or the first week of May for about 10 people.
Every year (other than 2020 and 2021 which was covid) we have had groups starting in April. April starts are common because the resort opens up it’s Marine section for the first time after winter and ahead of the Golden Week public holiday in early May.
This year the General Manager has been away a lot and getting confirmation has proven very difficult. We still don’t have confirmations now, even a week out from the expected start date.
We are nervous that April starts might not happen this year – and the big unknown for us in that case is will they be pushed back to May, or into June.
Fingers crossed for last-minute approvals!
May:
Typically we don’t have a lot of May starts, however if the April positions aren’t confirmed we’re hopeful that we will have May starts instead. The reason we normally don’t have many May starts is because after the Golden Week Holiday (May 5,6,7,8) Okinawa goes into the rainy season.
June:
In June the hotels start to expand operations again ready for the summer rush – and often hire another large group of staff. If starting in June, it’s likely you’ll be expected to stay until September 30th – or later if you can!
Ski Resort Positions Timeline
Unlike Okinawa positions, for which small groups start during the year, at ski resorts they need ALL of their staff on Day 1.
We already have a good idea of how many staff each ski resort will need for the 2025-2026 season and so will start arranging positions very soon.
Job offers will start going out to those who have applied in early March.
